Together

Do you take your family to church?  Do you lead them to church?  No, church attendance won't save us, but because the Lord has saved us we trust that He knows what He's talking about when He tells us that we need to go to church.  Hebrews 10:23-25 says "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.  And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

Does your wife ever have to take the kids to church without you?  I understand that some jobs require us to be away on Sundays, but we and our families know the difference between having to work and excuses.  My wife and kids need to know that I, THE man in their lives, honor the Lord.  Our lives ought to say it even louder than our words.

Being there is not enough.  It's in the way that we do it.  My every day must match my Sunday.  Few things cause children to run from the Lord faster than hypocrisy in their parents.  I am thankful that my Daddy led us to church in such a way that we never needed to ask whether or not we were going.  I am thankful that my Daddy was and is the same man at church that he is at work, on Saturday night, and any other time or place.  If you are not leading your family to church, don't act surprised when the respect, trust and credibility due to a father don't run very deep.  Gentlemen, get up and get the family moving in the right direction on Sunday morning.  Get some breakfast ready for them.  Then, you take your wife's hand and lead them out to church.
