I sit in awe when I read about men who always seemed to know what God was doing. My personal favorites are Elijah and Elisha, but there are many others. One of the things that most of us who love the Lord today desire most is to know what God thinks, what He wants for us and what He is doing. My wife and I pray for that knowledge and understanding all the time. As we pray, we need to realize that He has already told us how we can know what His will is. Romans 12:2 says: "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." Those men that I read about, like Elijah and Elisha, understood Romans 12:2. No, it hadn't been written down on paper yet, but the Lord Himself had written it on their hearts. They refused to prostitute themselves to this world like so many of us have done, myself included. If we are guilty of conforming to this world, then we need to quit today. We need to confess that to God and leave it, walking after Him instead. There is nothing in this world that we need. Conforming to this world was killing us. Walk away.

Instead, we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That transformation comes from the Lord. My mind and its thoughts lead to death. Look around at our world and see what the mind of man has done when it has not been set on God. This world does not know what love is, not even parental love. This world denies life, faithfulness, truth, right and wrong. By spending time, all of our time, setting our hearts on the Lord and becoming more like Him, we will be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We need to think like Him. We need to see like Him. Choose life.
