Those Who Seek

Too often, the Lord gets the insurance agent treatment from His people.  "Father, something bad happened...might have been my fault...not really sure.  Listen, could You (fill in this blank with whatever request our purposes dictate), please?"  We may attend church and pray whatever obligatory prayers we deem necessary to keep the lines open for those times when we want/need something from the God of the universe. Psalm 9:10 says:  "those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; For Thou, O Lord, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee."  This verse teaches us that we should seek the Lord.  We should willingly spend our time learning Him and learning from Him.  Those who seek Him have never been forsaken by Him.  That sounds a whole lot better than trying to approach a God that I'm not that well acquainted with to ask Him for help, guidance or answers.  We decide how we will spend our time and on whom we will set our hearts.  And, we will be repaid accordingly.

Proverbs 1:20-33 speak on this very subject.  Wisdom calls to any who listen.  Wisdom says:  "Turn to my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you."  But, if we are unwilling to turn to wisdom, then wisdom will "laugh at your calamity" and "mock when your dread comes".  Wisdom even says "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me".  Seek the Lord now.  The Lord knows the voices of His children when they cry out to Him.  And, in the same way, His sheep know the voice of their Shepherd.
