Remember

Romans 1:21 teaches about those who rebel against the one God, and says that "even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened."  That could be said of the world that we live in.  Geologist Charles Lyell laid much of the foundation for Charles Darwin's "theory" of evolution, put forth in On the Origin of Species.  Some of Lyell's letters from 1829 and 1830 reveal that he was busily occupying himself, not with science, but with campaigning with influential clergymen.  Lyell needed to entice these "ministers" into accepting his assertions that the Earth was much older than the Biblical account of creation allowed for, directly contradicting the Word of the Lord.  You see, Lyell was about the business of what he called freeing "science from Moses" and drawing attention to "the mischief and scandal brought on...by Mosaic systems."  And, from that point on, many people, inside and outside of the church, seeing that it was a delight to the eyes, and that it was desirable to make one "wise", they took from its fruit and ate.  And, as Romans 1:22-23 says, "Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures."  They have willfully forgotten the One who created them. Our culture has viewed the law of God, meant to protect us and spare us from needless suffering, and rejected it.  They have told the Lord that they would "tear [His] fetters apart, and cast away [His] cords", as Psalm 2:3 says.  They have determined that promiscuity equals fulfillment and normality.  They have decided that the sex that their Creator decreed for them, is a "fluid" societal construct that may be changed arbitrarily, and that this also is normal.

Gentlemen, remember "that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water" (2 Peter 3:5).  Remember that we were dying without hope, "but now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ" (Ephesians 2:13).  Remember the chains that once held you bound to sin, death and decay.  Remember that He loves those who have turned from Him, and that He is patient with them "not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).  Remember that in Revelation 22:20, Jesus promised "I am coming quickly."
