Sleep

My wife and I have four kids now.  Every parent goes in sometimes while their children sleep, to check on them.  We make sure they're okay.  We pray for them.  Sometimes we just watch and admire them in disbelief.  These days it takes a little time for me to make those rounds.  There is so much that I want for them, and that I pray for.  In these times I am also keenly aware of my faults.  I pray that the Lord will guard us, bless us and help me to overcome my faults.  Like most daddies, I am broken by the thought that my family might suffer because of me.  I can't simply brush these thoughts aside; after all they are very real possibilities.  Instead, God says for us to bring our cares to Him. Psalm 3:5 says:  "I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me."  Bring your fears into the light.  Get into the Bible and see what God has said about your fears.  The Lion from the tribe of Judah steps in between us and the fears that stalk our hearts.  The Prince of Peace says:  "Follow Me."

"In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for Thou alone, O Lord, dost make me to dwell in safety."-Psalm 4:8
