This world is perishing.  The powers named in Ephesians 6:12 advance against the Lord and against His Anointed, taking captive the lives that Jesus paid the price to save.  From among the rising sea that rages against the one God grows the furious sound of a mob cursing the salt of the earth, cursing the truth, and calling for the silencing of the gospel, the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.  The sound grows louder in spite of the suffering left in its wake.  "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3) "The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned" (Psalm 34:22).  "I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day" (2 Timothy 1:12 b).
