Today in my summer school class, I read O.Henry's The Gift of the Magi with my class.  I have students who think very differently about all kinds of issues, but that timeless story never fails to get a warm response from every last one of them.  In the marriage of the two major characters, Jim and Della, each spouse was a priceless gift to the other. Many of you, like me, have been given precious gifts.  Only this morning I was able to hold the hand of my wife and tell her my cares and my doubts.  She prayed with me, and has continued to pray for me since then.

I have been given children who just make my life feel like a dream.  They run to me.  They want to play with me.  They want me to watch everything they do.

As James 1:17 says, "Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow."  Thank God for the gifts He has given you.  Pray that you will be a gift to them, too.
