Out of Death into Life

More and more "churches" abandon the truth for a lie.  More and more "Christians" are incapable of Biblically defining what it means to be a Christian.  The tragic result is that more and more would-be followers of Jesus are led astray from, turned off of, or just confused about reality, the condition of their souls, and what to do about it.  The teaching that the grace of God and His love for humanity compels Him to overlook our sin, gather us up, and welcome us into His kingdom is growing in popularity, within and without the church.  Some might ask:  "What's the harm, as long as they trust God, they'll be saved, right?"  But that's just it; they are not trusting God.  Instead, they put their misguided faith into an image that masquerades as God, plays them the tune they want to hear, and leads them to hell.  That's the harm.

Our sin (the specific sins are irrelevant, as all sin reduces down to our rejection of God's Word) resulted in death and hopeless seperation from God (Genesis 2:17, Romans 1:18-32, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15).  Anyone who contends that God overlooks our sin because of His grace and love must also necessarily contend that the cross was meaningless, and that the entire Bible, except for their few cherry-picked and utterly distorted scriptures, is wrong.  They contend that the Bible is wrong when it teaches repentance for the forgiveness of sin (Matthew 3:2, 11; 12:41; Mark 1:4; Acts 2:38, 17:30; 2 Corinthians 7:10; 2 Peter 3:9).

It is not enough to satisfy the law in the eyes of a just God that we merely believe that He exists and that He loves us.  We must acknowledge our sin, without which we cannot possibly repent.  We must believe that Jesus is who the Bible says He is (1 John 4:2-3), the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16), sinless (2 Corinthians 5:21), crucified in our stead (Isaiah 53:5), resurrected the firstborn from the dead (Colossians 1:18), the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and having obtained eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12).  We must entrust ourselves to God's Word, the gospel, because that is what faith is, and without faith it is impossible to please God (Romans 10:13, 9-10, 17; Hebrews 11:1, 6).  Hold to the truth.  Don't put up with anything different.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!-Galatians 1:8
