Slander dominates public discourse.  "No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth.  They trust in empty words and speak lies; They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity" (Isaiah 59:4).  Hatred flares.  Violent action breeds violent reaction.  Violence upon violence, and hatred upon hatred.  A dishonest media, eager to feed a ravenous public, creates an alternate reality, one where the dramatic is commonplace and the few are made to appear to be in the majority.  An unwitting public begins to believe. The only reason that people may have not to believe in the world as it appears on the screen, the only reason that they have for hope, they will see in us, as we show ourselves "to be blameless and innocent children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom [we] appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life" (Philippians 2:15b-16a).  We have been redeemed and changed forever.  Now we stand in contrast and opposition to evil.  Are you enough of a light to guide them home?
