The Words of the Lord

Psalm 12:6-7 reads:  "The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever."  These words are the one and only hope for the child of God, what he builds and hangs his whole life on.  And the Lord seals our hopes forever, when He obligates Himself to keep His Word.  It is dependent upon no one else.  The one God, and He alone, will cause His Word to stand forever. There are those, many masquerading as ministers of the gospel, who would have us believe that the Word of the Lord is antiquated, irrelevant, figurative.  They work to marginalize and silence God, His people, and His Word.  But He has promised to keep and preserve His Word forever.  And we His people will not be abandoned.  "This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life" (Psalm 119:50).

When I have built my house on the Word of the Lord, it will stand, because He who has promised is faithful.  "Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for an unhypocritical love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God.  For, 'All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass.  The grass withers, and the flower falls off, but the Word of the Lord abides forever.'  And this is the word which was preached as good news to you" (1 Peter 1:22-25).
