The Deception

American academia, Hollywood, and the media in general have been working hard for quite some time now to deceive us, the American people.  To promulgate the radical and destructive views of those who hate God, His Word, and His people.  They take the self-evident truth and "that which is evident within them" (Romans 1:19), and make it controversial, and they take that which is controversial and make it appear to be mainstream.  Because they knowingly deny the truth, they will not allow discussion of ideas.  When questioned they do not answer.  Instead, they simply keep shouting all the more (Matthew 27:23).  Then, they accuse us of the wrongs that they commit.  They accuse us of being anti-science, intolerant, violent, divisive, and hateful.

The answer to the deception is truth, the Word of God.  In the beginning, when "darkness was on the face of the deep," God said "'Let there be light'; and there was light" (Genesis 1:2-3).  And the Lord spoke His Word to us to give us light, as promised in Isaiah 9:2:  "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined."  Truth shows us for what we are. If we are honest about who we are and what we have done, acknowledging and confessing these to God then we "walk in the light as He Himself is in the light" (1 John 1:7).  But those who do not want to be shown for who and what they are, revolt against the light.  Jesus said that "the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.  For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed" (John 3:19-20).  So how can we bring into the light those who hate it?

Jesus directed us to "let [our] light shine before men in such a way that they may see [our] good works, and glorify [our] Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).  They will know by our lives.  They will see Him when we, the members of His body, live in obedience to Him.  "By this all men will know that you are [His] disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35).  This is why Jesus, the light of the world, said that we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), because He lives through us.  All of the questions to which the world seeks illegitimate answers are answered in Him who lives in us.  All of the failed movements, broken philosophies, impotent attempts to silence the Lord and His Word, are answered in Him who lives in us.  And when those who are as we were, enemies of God held captive by the deception, want to finally be free, let the child of God be there ready with the Word of the Lord.  "The entrance of [His] words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple" (Psalm 119:130).

"You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness."-Psalm 18:28
