Disarming the Family

"Today, I read that publisher Quercus Books will soon release a book entitled Stories for Boys who Dare to be Different.  The book's purpose is to provide boys with an "alternative type of hero' for those who 'checks their privilege'."  (That is a direct quote...apparently from Popeye...)  The idea is that masculinity is evil, except when women do it; then it's incredibly empowering.  And, if that doesn't make sense to you, then you're probably a bigoted sexist xenophobe.  Shame on you.  And if you're not familiar with the "check your privilege" terminology (a sure sign that you're an intolerant homophobic Islamophobe), it means that you don't get to talk because you disagree with the pre-approved viewpoint of radical post-modernism.

The publication of this book is not an isolated incident.  The effort to undermine the role of every man has been underway for millennia.  I believe that the fall of man from Genesis 3 is the result of an abdication on Adam's part of his God-given responsibility to lead his wife.  C.S. Lewis wrote in The Abolition of Man that "We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise.  We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst."

History dictates that there is only one reason that one man seeks to disarm another, to tip the balance of power in his favor.  So, why would our enemy, the devil, want to disarm our families?  Why would he want to remove the man from the home?  I can only think of one reason.
