Words of Eternal Life

"I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16).  "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8).  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being" (John 1:1-3).  "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers, authorities - all things have been created through Him and for Him.  He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:15-17).  "The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).   "'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,'" says the Lord.   "'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts...My word...that goes forth from My mouth...shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it'" (Isaiah 55:8-11).  "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him" (Proverbs 30:5).

As a disciple of Jesus and a child of the one God, redeemed by the blood and the resurrection of Jesus, I stand on His Word alone.  Whatever others may choose to believe, or however others may choose to compromise, my hope is not in man, but in the ability of the Almighty God to keep His Word.  No other Word and no other name is able to save.  Here I stand without qualification and without apology.

Chapter 6 of the book of John concludes with many disciples of Jesus' abandoning Him.  "So Jesus said to the twelve, 'You do not want to go away also, do you?'  Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life" (John 6:67-68).
