Surely

Genesis 50:24 records Joseph's last known words, spoken to his brothers.  And with those words he reminded them of the Almighty God's promises, promises to their fathers for generations before them.  Joseph charged his brothers to build their lives and their hopes on the Word of God.  We have the responsibility to do the same for our brothers and sisters.

The saints who have gone before us upheld their responsibilities to teach us to honor the Word of the Lord and to remind us of His promises.  All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.  For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.  And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.  But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them (Hebrews 11:13-16).

While we live here in the flesh, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself up for us (Galatians 2:20).  He is our hope.  We who believe His Word to be final will build our lives upon it.  And like those who went before, we look forward to a country of our own.  Comfort one another with these words.
