Love and Good Deeds

“Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24-25). Life in the world in which we live, day in and day out on the battlefield, can leave us weary and discouraged at times. But, then the church assembles together.

Last weekend my family and I attended the wedding of two of our church members. Looking back on the evening now, I don’t know how to say how encouraging and refreshing it was. I got to spend some extra time with some of the members of our local church as well as some others who live far away, whom I do not get to see often, but when I do, I know that I will be blessed with wise counsel, and I’ll get to just spend some time with brothers and sisters who care about the right things, and who fight the same battles that I do. It’s almost like a little taste of heaven.

To the church, the family, the saints, thank you for what you are to me and to my family. I pray that we will be the blessings to you that you are to us. May the Lord sustain us as we speak “to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks in all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ” Ephesians 5:19-21.
