Praying

Today was a day that I had not been looking forward to.  Nothing horrible was going on.  It was just one of those days when I had to go back to work after some very good time off (an opportunity that many people would be more than grateful for).  There were a few other factors in play that added to my apprehensions about the upcoming day.  But, I had been praying.  My good faithful wife had also been praying for me, and continued to do so.  And that changed everything. All around us many of our brothers and sisters are in all kinds of different circumstances, some of them dire.  As the people known by God, we should pray.  Psalm 55:17 says:  "Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice."  The Lord is always ready to hear the voices of His children.  Luke 18:1 says that Jesus taught people "that men always ought to pray and not lose heart."  Don't let the other members of the body, the church, be alone without your prayers.  Fight for each other.  Take the Almighty God at His Word and pray.  The prayer of a righteous man is not spoken in vain.  Romans 8:26 teaches us that "the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.  For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."  Take to the field of battle led by the Holy Spirit.  Take joy knowing that even when we are at a loss for how to pray, that we can still pray, knowing that the Holy Spirit of God is interceding for us!

Never be afraid to call, as Paul did in 1 Thessalonians 5:25:  "Brethren, pray for us."  None of us are above the need for our family to pray for us.  None of us are intended to be separate from the body, without concern for each other.  Pray for each other.  Where would I be without the prayers of God's people?
