“It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish” (Matthew 18:14). Just before speaking those Words, Jesus said: “whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea” (Matthew 18:6). The Lord leaves no doubt about how fiercely He loves children, and how terrible His wrath will be against those who lead them astray.
Our culture is stands in imminent and serious danger for the way that these Words of Jesus have been despised. Instead of allowing children to come to the Lord, learn His Word and His ways, our culture has taught and continues to teach a lie, the lie of secular humanism, atheism, and a form of Christianity, distorted into compatibility with both of the above. Not only do they not let children come to know God, they actively work to keep them from the knowledge of the Lord.
For those of us who hold to the Word of the Lord, entrusting our children to Him, He has spoken to us: “He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young” (Isaiah 40:11). For those who, through ignorance or willful disobedience, have not honored the Word of God as it concerns children, today is a time of grace (2 Peter 3:9), so repent, fall on the mercy of the Lord, entrusting yourself to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus as the payment for your sin, as He is for mine, and begin today to follow Him.
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10).
