Weighed Down with Iniquity

Isaiah 1:4 reads:  "Alas, sinful nation, people weighed down with iniquity, seed of evildoers, sons who act corruptly!  They have abandoned the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away backward."  Psalm 51:4 says:  "Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned, and done what is evil in Thy sight, so that Thou art justified when Thou dost speak, and pure when Thou dost judge." All sin will be judged, without exception.  Without Jesus offering Himself up for judgement in our place, we would have no hope.  Without acknowledgement of our need for the salvation that He offers, and without calling on Him and trusting Him for that salvation, the world stands condemned without escape.

Our nation has increasingly resisted the Lord who delivered her from destruction when she was only just conceived.  Because of our resistance to Him, we have been given over to our desires, until our nation cannot even stand anymore under the weight of evil that we not only invited in, but even celebrated as it paraded down our streets, eyeing our children and taking note of us to find a neglected article in the armor of the Lord.  We must be ready, and we must stand.  Among those who live in slavery to sin are the likes of Rahab, the woman at the well, and Saul of Tarsus, who need only to hear the Word and trust the Lord and be saved (Romans 10:17).  In our hearts lives the same Word that they trusted and were saved.
